Subject: Upcoming Group IV Events
To:

Good Morning,

For those who do not know, I am currently focused on recruiting and retention efforts for Group IV.  To increase retention, I believe we must have more coordinated group-wide events that allow our seniors and cadets to work together and get to know each other better.  From speaking with many cadets throughout Group IV, I learned that many were interested in more activities that focus on physical fitness.  I wanted to advise you of two upcoming events in hopes that you will share with your squadrons and encourage participation.

The first event is a Group IV Ruck March scheduled for 7 December at the Spring Creek Nature Trail.  The SCN Trail is a relatively new 13 mile trial that runs through Tomball, The Woodlands and Spring.  We will have two ruck marches planned for cadets and seniors, a half marathon distance and a 10K distance.  The half marathon march will be capped at 30 cadets and will have more rigid standards.  The 10K march will have much looser standards and will be open to family members.  We are in the process of also planning a family barbecue to follow the event.  I am currently working with a group-wide cadet staff to get all the details worked out.  I would love to see cadets from each squadron participating in these events.  Full details and a registration link will be available soon, but please go ahead and advise your squadrons about event and get it on your calendars.  If you have seniors in your squadron who are interested in helping or participating in the event, please ask them to email me.

Second, I am working with Delta Composite Squadron to kick off a new challenge, and we would like to make this Group-wide challenge.  The 22 Challenge was a viral challenge that took off a few years ago to highlight data showing that 22 veterans commit suicide every day.  The viral challenge asked participants to complete 22 pushups every day for 22 days to bring awareness to the issue.  We hope your squadron will join Delta cadets in completing this challenge and make this a group-wide event.  Delta is kicking off the challenge on 22 October and will be completing the challenge the day after Veterans’ Day.  We created a group chat where cadets and participating seniors will check in daily to confirm their completion of the pushups.  The activity presents a great opportunity for Veterans’ Day press coverage and for social media posting as well as a chance to promote cadet unity throughout Group IV.  I hope that you will join us in the 22 Challenge.  If your squadron decides to participate, please let me know so that we can include you in the press releases and social media posting.
