Namaste,

We will have a regular Gurukul session tomorrow starting at 4.05 pm at the Sri Ganesha temple.

1) Prayer session with shlokas and prarthana (15 minutes, 4.05-4-20pm).

2) Hindi class sessions (4.25 pm to 5.05 pm) : For the early level kids- “Please bring Hindi notebook. Please practice writing alphabets on the sheets given-one line each alphabet.” Our Hindi teachers are volunteering for these classes, and doing a great service to the temple and for our kids. Let’s be appreciative of this, and try to complete the homework and tasks given by them.

3) Yoga and games session (5.05 pm to 5.30 pm).

Note:

- Per discussion with Navin Varma jee and feedback from parents and kids, we will have Isha Upnishad sessions during special camps every 2-3 months. We are hoping to organize a camp in the late January 2014.

- Gurukul will take the winter break after the session on 12/15/2013. We will have a parent meeting tomorrow regarding the following issues: Curriculum improvements and suggestions regarding the Gurukul sessions beginning January 2014.

- Hindi class certificates: Seema ji is working on issuing a certificate of completion of beginner Hindi level at the end of academic year in May 2013 to students who meet the following criteria: student should be 6 and above in age; should have attended Hindi class last year at Gurukul; obtained min 70% marks in test (to be given in Feb and May ); attendance 70%. Seema jee has a an attendance sheet showing attendance which is generally 60%. How can we improve it?

-Message from Gopi Janu (coordinator of one of the SLC Chess clubs): Kids planning to stay for chess club AFTER Gurukul do not need to bring individual chess boards .They will be provided by the chess club coordinators.

If you have any questions or if you want to UNSUBSCRIBE from Gurukul emails, please send an email to one of the Gurukul coordinators at: gopikak...@gmail.com, or Oncol...@gmail.com or mil...@gmail.com.

With best regards!

Gurukul coordinator

P.S: "Salt Lake City Gurukul is a forum for children to discover, learn and appreciate their cultural roots, Indian and Hindu values. This is done through didactic teaching of Hindi language, games, yoga, stories especially those from Ramayan and Mahabharat, shlokas, bhajans, arts and crafts. There are NO fees associated with Gurukul attendance.
