Dear Mr.Soori,
All points noted as it is very colorfully highlighted, and no doubt they are valid and likewise respected. A few points to clarify and few points which you may assist in as a club member who is striving for the betterment of our beloved Sri lank club.
• I do take it personal when you call myself or when you bring unacceptable demands by meeting the current club cricket captain.(Views and suggestion are acceptable at all time but demands will never be accepted by myself as the outdoor sports secretary or as Kevin himself)
• The club invest every year BD 400 for cricket which is for entry fees and uniforms and not a penny more or less.
• Yes water and snacks for the games are provided by the players and not the club.
• All cricketing gear is sourced out by the players them self for the last 6years and not taxing the club for it.
• I am willing to stop all non-members from this Friday onwards playing, if you can bring us 8 members to represent the club cricket team. And continue playing for the club.
• Then again! shall we dissolve the club cricket team as we don’t have member players ? Please advise!!
• I had advise all non-members on numerous occasions to become members for the last 7 years, but they don’t bother about it. So let’s tell them don’t bother coming to play. Then What happens to the club team? Please advise!!
• Yes the lads do go and play the other scrappy leagues but also they do come and play most of the time for the club. Can you commit that you will do the same as a commitment? Please advise!!
• Of course the non-member cricketers are doing a favor to the club by playing for the club cricket team. If not for them we will not have a club cricket team for the past 7 years. Once again shall we dissolve the team? Please advise!!
• The AGM will be the best place to discuss this matter as it is an open forum. Simple discussion shall we continue the cricket team with non-members or shall we dissolve the club cricket team as we don’t have 8 members to come play for the team.
• Last but not the least why don’t you as Mr.Soori and as very active member come play for the Sri Lankan club cricket team on a permanent basis only for 7 months a year and also only on Fridays. I am sure you can commit to this as an individual as you are so enthusiastic and passionate about the game and the club.
Once again if any member do commit to playing permanently for as long as possible for the club cricket team any and all individuals are welcome to play as it is our club collectively. Otherwise don’t bother coming to represent the club cricket team on a one off basis if the club needs to continue having a cricket team.
Please note I did not understand about back doors as I know all respected men walk through only front doors by announcing them self of their presence.
Best Regards,
Kevin Balkhuysen

Dear Outdoor Sports Secretary - SLC Bahrain,
With reference to your sms sent yesterday, after our telephone conversation, it seems that you have taken it personnel as usual because the suggestion came from the "SOORI". Don't take it personal I just expressed my view and suggestion.
Please find below my reply to your sms;
1. If you can commit that the club member players you are going to introduce and play for the test series
are going to continue playing for the club for the 20 & 25 over games also, then please do bring them.i
guarantee they will be playing. But if the said commitment is not their please don't bother coming to
the ground's as they will not be allowed to play.
This statement shows that you have mixed up the "intended purpose of the SLC i.e. to work
benefit of the club and its members". Participating for an event by spending around BD 600 plus
per year allowing bunch of "NON MEMBERS" to enjoy their weekends by playing for six to seven
months per year doesn't fulfill the said intended purpose of the club. As a member of executive
committee of the club who is appointed by the active members to serve the club and its members,
should not convey a message to an active member saying"PLEASE DON'T BOTHER TO COMING
TO THE GROUNDS AS THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY". Which is diminishing the rights of
an active member. (some of the players also non-members coming form the morning league will not be
continued for the 20 & 25 over games and specially since they are not SLC members should not allow
to participate for any of club's activities).
Instead of that statement (red) it would be appreciated if you pass this message to so called non-
members "PLEASE TAKE SLC MEMBERSHIP ASAP AS CLUB MEMBERS WANTED TO PLAY
I(YOU) HAVE TO GIVE FIRST PRIORITY TO CLUB MEMBERS".
We both discussing about the 'committment'. You refer the commitment for rest of the season
( Of course we should not forget about the commitment if there is any soft ball, tape ball or
MRF ball tournament in any corner of the island.) The 'comitment' I refer is to take SLC
membership then enjoy the events and facilities. Moreover we are experiencing so called commitment in
every Tuesday at the nets.
2. The reason is we need to continue the rest of the season.
This is hilarious. Meaning of this sentence is that the club wanted to entertain those non-members for
the rest of the season too irrespective of their membership. I don't see any benefit neither to its
members nor for the club by continuing of playing under current circumstances. When I asked from
some of the non-members there what is there opinion is they come to play in Fridays club doesn't
provide even a glass of water so why should we bother to take membership. As if they are doing a
favour to club by playing under our club name by using collection of active memebers' membership
fees and their sponsorships., which is not.I believe the money spending for year for them to enjoy their
game during every weekend for seven months is much higher than the cup of water, tea or snacks.
You are going to provide entertainment for this kind of group. Let them come to umbrella of SLC make
these comments. I have passed several no of application to them in numerous occasions but only
one or two accepted to take membership and returned the duly filled the form returned . The last one
of the applications given by me was Hirantha Baddage's one which u collected in last April at
Salmania ground. I passed the application to him because I don't have any doubt about his 'talent' and
commitment'.
3. I do recommend strongly that you bring this up at the AGM.
I do raise this during the AGM. But still since it is clearly stated in documents I don't think we have to
wait till AGM to resolve. Nothing to resolve. " ALL THE FACILITIES AND BENEFITS ARE FOR THE
UPDATED MEMBERS OF THE CLUB". What else you have to discuss during the AGM.
4. I would like to suggest;
(a) Encourage them to take membership. Even still if they will not take membership, forget about them
and stop entertaining them by using club's assets tell them "DON'T BOTHER TO COMING TO THE
GROUNDS AS THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY".
(b) Send email and any kind of message to current active members(Specially Lala Thenabadu
Participants) inviting to come and play cricket representing their club. Sports is mainly participation
it doesn't require to win by "hook or crook". Specially cricket is a Gentleman's game.
(c) Remove the requirement of "active membership" from the all other events such as Sinhala classes,
indoor games, tennis, netball, toastmasters, gavel club, etc. etc..let anybody to come and
participate as they wish maintaining 'equilibrium' among all the club activities and benefits.
Finally, I would like to request you to stop "attacking Soori" for 'everything and anything'. Please be noted that I am an active member since 2004 attending all the club events as much as possible, specially knocking the front door rather than trying to come through back door. Think positively and do the need full for the betterment of the club and it's members.
As you can see I have copied this to current president and all the past presidents who are living in Bahrain expecting better outcome.
Best Regards,
Soori

Dear Mr.Soori,
All points noted as it is very colorfully highlighted, and no doubt they are valid and likewise respected. A few points to clarify and few points which you may assist in as a club member who is striving for the betterment of our beloved Sri lank club.
• I do take it personal when you call myself or when you bring unacceptable demands by meeting the current club cricket captain.(Views and suggestion are acceptable at all time but demands will never be accepted by myself as the outdoor sports secretary or as Kevin himself).
There wasn't any demand.," I REQUESTED TO ENCOURAGE ALL NON-MEMBERS TO TAKE MEMBERSHIP" . You should have been clarified before writing "unacceptable demand". I don't think requesting to encourage non-members to take membership is as n unacceptable.....
• The club invest every year BD 400 for cricket which is for entry fees and uniforms and not a penny more or less.
Plus some money for lunchs during day matches and some amounts for awards (majority of these money, that is more than 75% spending for non members).
• Yes water and snacks for the games are provided by the players and not the club. Applause.
• All cricketing gear is sourced out by the players them self for the last 6 years and not taxing the club for it.
Exactly, if that is the case if they are refusing to take membership this should have been done long time ago .
Then What happens to the club team? Please advise!! Answer is very simple. If participating for these leagues are not benefiting the active members and their families it is not required participate for that. Keeping and maintaining SLC cricket team with bunch of non-members who refused to take SLC membership is neither benefiting club nor members and families.
• Yes the lads do go and play the other scrappy leagues but also they do come and play most of the time for the club. Can you commit that you will do the same as a commitment? Please advise!! Yes of course 200% provided that whole team comprising with active SLC members. That is why in this instance also I informed to you that my eager to play SLC. Unfortunately I was advised by outdoor sports secretary "don't come to the ground you will not be selected for the team". (I believe that is because he has to feed those non-members.) Please be aware that I took membership of SLC to play cricket which is the one still I couldn't get opportunity upto now for nine years as an active member because of this ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, non-members and people like who feeding them clubs revenues.
• Of course the non-member cricketers are doing a favor to the club by playing for the club cricket team. If not for them we will not have a club cricket team for the past 7 years. Once again shall we dissolve the team? Please advise!! I have answered this before. very clear as black & white since this activity is not benefiting club, its members or families and if those non-members refused to take memberships and update that subsequently, dissolve it .(even dissolve or not since it is comprising bunch of non-members who refuse to take membership no actual SLC there to dissolve. Just a name of SLC only.)
• The AGM will be the best place to discuss this matter as it is an open forum. Simple discussion shall we continue the cricket team with non-members or shall we dissolve the club cricket team as we don’t have 8 members to come play for the team. Until then you can 'suspend the players' without dissolving. Again what is use of namely cricket team which is not benefitting active members and their families. And also still we don't have any clue about the date of the next AGM.
Yes of course that is what exactly I told you last night over the phone. which you replied me to not to come to ground as I will be selected for the team. Second I don't play under my club name with bunch of non-members who refuse to take membership update that. Can u count how many spectators come to ground from SLC to cheer the name of the club. According to my knowledge there are three one of them is SOORI. Even last Friday I was there. Knowing this you are joking asking me to come to ground for seven months. Not only for seven months I can sleep in the ground for 365 days if my family permits. I love this "GENTLEMEN'S GAME THAT MUCH". I feel sorry for that you became a joker with this statement.
Once again if any member do commit to playing permanently for as long as possible for the club cricket team any and all individuals are welcome to play as it is our club collectively. Otherwise don’t bother coming to represent the club cricket team on a one off basis if the club needs to continue having a cricket team. I am strongly requesting you to withdraw this statement and not to make it again to any of the SLC active members or their family members. No you are wrong IF IT IS NOT BENEFITING CLUB MEMBERS AND ITS FAMILIES it useless to have cricket team by the name of SLC.
Please note I did not understand about back doors as I know all respected men walk through only front doors by announcing them self of their presence. Yes exactly, ALL RESPECTED MEN do it in that way but others .................................
Best Regards,
Kevin Balkhuysen
