DONATIONS FOR KABABAYANS IN JAPAN

UGAT is an apostolate for grassroots families. It conducts its ministry through psychological interventions and family systematic approaches. Through the years, Overseas Filipino Workers and their families have been the main recipients of its advocacy.

Due to the triple-tragedy that happened in the Tohoku and Kanto Regions in Japan, UGAT would like to ask for financial assistance in behalf of the victims who are still trying to sort out their documents and are looking for possible airfare donors. Through your help, our kababayans hope to leave Japan the soonest possible time so that they can recuperate from mental, emotional and financial stress.
 
UGAT has partnered with the Philippine Embassy to supply the psychological intervention to the distressed migrants. A team (2 Jesuits from Manila) will convene in Tokyo from March 29-April 12 to give a series of seminars to the evacuees. UGAT is coordinating also with the central organizing body called Nagkakaisang Pinoy sa Bansang Hapon for these efforts. The group is composed of religious and socio-civic groups within Kanto area, Catholic Tokyo International Center, the Philippine Assistance Group, other concerned citizens in close coordination with the Phillipine Embassy. According to Fr. Resty Ogsimer, cs (Ass't. Director of the Catholic Tokyo International Center) the group has directly assisted more or less 140 evacuees as of Wednesday, March 23. Many of the evacuees have already left for the Philippines. The ones who are left behind are those with document problems (expired passports, no re-entry permits and those with no passport at all) and those who have documents and want to go home but do not have the financial means to do so.
 
Fr. Resty elaborates in his email and we quote: "There are still more or less 30 evacuees waiting to be repatriated. Around 20 of them do not have money to buy tickets. The spring holidays in Japan have already commenced so the plane tickets have doubled if not tripled in value. However, Philippine Airlines and the Philippine Embassy have entered a special concession for the victims. Yesterday, we have availed of relatively cheap airfare (more or less the value is at 25,000 pesos using the current exchange rate of the yen and peso). We have ventured into a very aggressive monetary fund drive but we still have to see the fruits of our labor."

Panalangin sa Panahon ng Trahedyang Dulot ng Lindol at Tsunami sa Bansang Hapon*

 

Diyos Amang makapangyariahan at mapagmahal,

Dumudulog kami sa ngalan ng Inyong Anak na aming Tagapagligtas, Kristong Hesus. Namimintuho kami para sa aming mga kapatid na labis na nagdurusa dahil sa matinding kalamidad na idinulot ng mga paglindol at tsunami sa bansang Hapon.

 

O, Panginoon, para sa kanila na binawian ng buhay at sa kanilang naghihinagpis sa pagkawala ng kanilang mga kaibiga’t kaanak, Iyong awa ang aming hiling.

O, Panginoon, para sa kanilang sugatan at naghihintay pa ng tulong, paghilom at pagkalinga ang aming naisin.

O Panginoon, para sa kanilang nagbibigay tulong at tumutugon sa pangangailangan ng lahat ng mga nasalanta pati na rin sila na ang tungkulin ay ang paghahanap sa mga nasawi, patnubay, lakas ng loob at higit pang materyal at espirituwal na biyaya ang aming dalangin.

O Amang mahabagin, alam namin na hindi Mo kami iiwanan at lilisanin. Kapiling ka namin magpakailan man, anumang pighati at trahedyang aming sapitin at harapin.

 

Ngayong panahon ng Kuwaresma, naway ang kaganapang ito ay magpasidhi pa ng aming pagititiwala at pananampalataya sa Iyo. Naway ang masaklap na pangyayaring ito ay maging paanyaya na kami’y makibahagi sa Iyong naisin na kami ay patuloy na tumugon nang bukas loob at walang pag-aalinlangan sa lahat ng mga nagdurusa at nangangailangan. Nawa’y higit pa kaming maudyok na makapagmahal nang walang kapalit upang sa gayo’y mabanaagan namin sa mga mukha ng aming kapwa ang mukha ng Iyong  Anak.

Hinihiling namin ito sa ngalan ni Kristong Hesus na aming Tagapagligtas,
