MRBS is written in PHP, and I knew nothing about PHP. I have never
coded anything on the web other than plain vanilla HTML. (I did have
plenty of experience of other coding languages). I could not as an
amateur go writing and testing the extensions at the Bureau, on the
production system - that would be irresponsible. So I needed my own
web server, and I didn't know where to start - such a long take-off
run to get into the air.
Then I found SLAMPP on Linux magazine. I have (after much swearing at
Dell) got an old Dell PC to run it (bloody Dell - don't get me
started). But SLAMPP is so easy and useful! The more I look at it, the
more I like it and appreciate the work that has gone into it. THANK
YOU!
Since then, I have written and tested an extension for block-booking a
week's appointments, and an extension to show Reception the list of
appointments for the day and tick the people off as they arrive. Not
bad for someone who had never seen PHP until a few weeks ago. This
achievement is because SLAMPP is an easy environment to work in.
The other IT volunteer at the Bureau has seen that I use SLAMPP, and
has seen what I have achieved. The word will spread.
THANKS AGAIN!
