I am currently writing a Windows 8/Windows Phone 8 Slack client but just hit a wall. It seems that there is no way to post a message AS THE USER to a channel. The chat.postMessage method always posts as a generic bot and not the user. Without the ability to actually post a message as the authenticated user, 3rd party Slack clients are impossible.

I just need a method to post a message as the authenticated user. Any plans to allow this?

Hi,

I'm sorry this isn't working the way you need it to. The bad news is that this isn't the only case where the existing API doesn't allow you to build a full Slack client.

The good news is that we're working on releasing methods that provide all the functionality needed to create your own Slack client. BUT there's a lot of it and it's taking some time to get it all done. We'll get there as soon as we can,

Paul
