search program in ansi C

hello
i am writing to you just to ask for help in my project in ansi C
what I need is to write the search program which does things written below:
- takes a string as an argument
- takes a directory as a string
- searches the directory and its subfolders
and writes on the monitor screen the manes of files which have the string in
the name

for example
search kdf win (returm)

and the user sees:
kdfile.com
kdf
........and so on

it would be great if you could help me
because i cannot write programs like this one
and i need to have it as fast as possible (i even don't know how to start)

any help needed
