American TriTech Becomes
TriTech Software Systems

San Diego, CA, June 22, 1998—American TriTech announced today that it is
changing its name to TriTech Software Systems. The San Diego-based company
develops computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software for the public safety industry.
“We are an international company and wanted our name to have broad,
international appeal,” noted Christopher D. Maloney, president and chief
operating officer of TriTech. Equally important, he says, the company’s new
name and tri-colored logo represent the three types of agencies it serves:
fire, police and EMS. “This name contributes to a strong corporate identity.”
Maloney says the company chose to announce the change at this time because it
is preparing to release VisiCAD for Law Enforcement, the latest release of its
CAD software, later this year. “It seems an opportune time to change the name
before we make a big push into the law enforcement market,” Maloney says. The
company’s existing VisiCAD for EMS and VisiCAD for Fire systems are already
used at 70 sites in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia and
New Zealand.
VisiCAD for Law Enforcement will allow users to dispatch all three agencies
using a single program. “Our company has built its software with a strong,
single-solution approach,” says Maloney. “All of our customers use the same
product, but they can tailor the feature set to suit their needs without
requiring a custom solution. This ensures that users can upgrade to future
releases which eliminates the risk of obsolescence.” He added that TriTech also
serves as a systems integrator to its customers, working with best-of-breed
hardware and software vendors that serve the public safety industry.
The cost of implementing the name change will be $120,000. Maloney said the
cost is justified by the improved perception of TriTech Software Systems as an
international company with a clear presence in the public safety market.
Following today’s announcement, the company will launch a direct mail campaign
to existing users and potential customers.
TriTech’s VisiCAD systems enable public safety agencies to increase
productivity, streamline operations and improve patient care. They are the most
full-featured, integrated Windows NT™-based systems on the market. Features
include vehicle routing, high-resolution integrated mapping functionality,
comprehensive graphical reports, emergency medical triage system, and automatic
vehicle location.
Built on the Microsoft Windows NT platform and SQL Server database, VisiCAD
software gives dispatchers complete data access and control, and the redundancy
and reliability required of mission-critical applications. VisiCAD is the
recipient of Microsoft’s Solution Provider—Most Innovative Application Award
for 1995.
TriTech was founded in 1982 as Online Data Corporation, a custom software
development and systems integration company. It became American TriTech in 1992
and focused its efforts in the public safety arena. The company doubled its
sales in 1997 and expects to grow 50 percent in 1998.
