TriTech Software Systems 344th on Inc. 500
List of Fastest-Growing Companies
SAN DIEGO, (October 24)¾TriTech Software Systems, based in San Diego,
California, has been named the 344th fastest growing private company in the
United States by Inc. magazine, which this month released its annual ranking of
the Inc. 500.
The Inc. 500, profiled in a special mid-October issue of the magazine, is an
exclusive report on America's fastest growing companies and the CEOs behind
them. Noteworthy alumni of the list include Microsoft, Timberland, Dominos
Pizza and Patagonia.
TriTech Software Systems develops, integrates, and supports advanced
computer-aided dispatching solutions and associated software applications for
the public safety industry. Its customers include law enforcement agencies,
fire departments, emergency medical (paramedic) services, and private ambulance
companies. TriTech's flagship product, VisiCADÔ, is a Windows NTÔ-based
software application used around the world by public safety organizations to
manage the command and control (dispatching) of vehicles, equipment and
personnel. Selected from a field of 500 applicants, VisiCAD won Microsoft's
Solution Provider¾Most Innovative Application Award in 1995.
"The public safety industry, like many industries, has learned it can harness
computers to save lives," explained Christopher D. Maloney, President of
TriTech. "Computer-aided dispatching helps public safety organizations to
quickly analyze emergency situations and develop responses that ensure the
fastest possible arrival of emergency resources".

"TriTech's role has been to provide the tools public safety needs to do this,"
Maloney continued. "Our products are cutting edge, with exceptional graphical
interfaces and highly integrated satellite vehicle tracking/mapping that allow
the dispatcher to view his/her entire operation at a glance. Our systems
provide value at all levels, from the communications center to remote field
operations. The demand for our technology adds up to a real growth opportunity
for TriTech."
To be eligible for the Inc. 500, companies must be independent and privately
held through 1997, and must demonstrate a sales increase from fiscal year 1993
to 1997. Holding companies and regulated banks are not eligible. Inc. verifies
all information using tax forms and financial statements from certified public
accountants, and by conducting interviews with company officials.
This year marks the 17th year that Inc. has charted the progress of America's
most innovative and successful entrepreneurs.
Firms on this year's list had a banner year by any measure, generating a total
of more that $12 billion in sales. This represents a staggering 33 percent
increase over last year's Inc. 500 figures ($9 billion). A record 14 companies
broke the $100 million sales barrier.
This year's companies also generated 18 percent more jobs (71,464 in total)
than the 1997 Inc. 500 group did. Computers and business services are the most
heavily represented industries on the 1998 list (57 percent of all companies),
followed by consumer goods (12 percent), telecommunications (7 percent) and
construction (6 percent).
