Quality Issues in EMS Today
In the latest issue of our monthly journal we look at who is responsible
for deciding what issues are important to an agency. Those who make those
decisions determine where the agency is headed, and the quality of care
that will be delivered to the patient.
We also offer information on the Medical Device Reporting Act of 1990.
Although this US law has been in effect for over 7 years, many EMS
agencies are unaware of it. This federally mandated act requires any
organization that uses any type of medical device (such as AEDs) to report
problems to the FDA. In this article we show you where to get more
information so that you can be in compliance.
Lastly, we present part three of the Pediatric Utstein Reporting Form.
Like the adult version, this reporting form presents a standard way to
document and track cardiac arrests in the pediatric setting.
The Research Center
The Research Center has been expanding. We have many new links in the EMS
Links section, including a new page of Internet Mailing Lists. Look for
these new links in the US Government section, Medical Sites section,
Educational Links and others. We also offer information on the seminars
that are now being offered by Dalmatian Enterprises.
To those of you who have visited our web site, we thank you and encourage
you to stop in again. If you have never visited our web site, please stop
by. We offer a variety of information on EMS management, much of it
available as a free download.
