Hi!

Thank you Tasha for creating this forum for the SL Open Seas Project.

Welcome everyone!

What happened to us? Well, the OSP has been dormant for a while but
thank you for a renewed interest from key SL residents such as Tasha,
we are now encouraged to revitalize the group. We have a couple of
ideas we want to work on to help spreading our message around. Here's
what?

- Creating a web presence with a web site that provide information on
how to be an OSP volunteer and information for land owners on how they
can keep waterways free of obstacles.

- Leveraging social networks to spread information about the group.

- Having a forum (this forum) to discuss specific issue and increase
communication among group members.

- Creating a network of kiosks to be distributed to interested
parties. The kiosk will display rotating posters asking people to join
our group and inform SL residents on how to keep waterways free of
obstacles. For the past 3 years I have been using the SasTech's kiosk
system for 3 networks with excellent results. The system uses a
central server as a repository of all the posters that will be
displayed on the networked kiosks and can deliver notecards as well as
objects. Thus, by updating information from one single location we can
have all the network up to date.

- Creating partnerships with relevant SL organizations and yacht
clubs.

As a first step, I have asked Tig Spijkers if the SLCG was willing to
sponsor our group. What better group could be a partner and sponsor of
the OSP? The idea is to have an OSP kiosk at each SLCG station. Next
step will be to have a kiosk at every yacht club and other interested
organizations.

If you have any suggestion please share it here.

Hi Indigo :)

So good to see what you and Tasha had brought back to life again!! And Tig and SLCG are also involved, great!

Love the idea about a kiosk at each SLCG station and YC. Cruising and exploring by boat become much bigger and more widespread over the years, and I think boating ppl will pick it up and spread the word.

;)

Thank you for the cheering, Manul. :)

The network server is ready, located at Station Muirhead. I am working on the kiosks as I type. I should have them ready in some hours. Once ready, I'll make an announcement in the OSP and the SLCG groups. I will then spread the word through social networks. :)

hey Indigo,

I think people would be very interested in a brief history of of the Open Sea's project. I know you were struggling with your East River Community and the neighbors near it. If you have time can you tell people -- briefly -- how this came about. I wold like to feature it with our members with Tradewinds.
