Why we should say NO to SARATH FONSEKA ?
Why opportunistic opposition supports Sarath Fonseka ?
Opposition does not have any leader who can fight with a giant
personality like Mahinda Rajapaksha in any democratic election.
Majority of Sri Lankans like Mahinda Rajapaksha even there are
allegations against his government for corruptions.
Opposition thought they have to use a popular character from war
winning heroes and Sarath Fonseka is the best for that. Sarath was ill-
treated by government since his attitudes were not well balanced. He
is not somebody who has patience. That is ok as a military leader but
that is not good in common society or in politics. Sarath Fonseka
wanted to double the Army even after winning war. Government had a
doubt (Military Regime) about him because there is no real need to
increase forces like that. It is already a huge cost for country.
Another thing, he has a narrow minded thinking that ONLY ARMY is the
reason for success. He didn’t care other commanders (Air force, Navy).
He openly criticized them. Further he thinks he is the main reason to
win the war and he wants him to be praised by others for that. However
he doesn’t understand the reality that it was Mahinda Rajapaksha who
coordinated and gave brave political leadership for the war victory.
It was Mahinda Rajapaksha who tackled international community. It was
Mahinda who got the support of public who tolerated lots on cost of
living. Rajapaksha was able to get public support for the war. He got
the government and private sector employees’ support. JVP tried
several times to go for mass strikes but these country loving
employees were not trapped by JVP, it was another success of Mahinda
Rajapaksha. Mahinda appointed correct people in military leadership
with right consultation from his own brother Gotabaya. Sarath was one
of the best Army commanders. However he was a technical level manager
of the war project. Missionary level was always Mahinda Rajapaksha.
Take an example of a private company, those employees who have the
technical skills do their job to the level best, however if the CEO is
a fool company will not get any progress even the technically capable
people do their best. Even the CEO does not have technical skills, he
knows how to give leadership, he knows how to handle external and
internal pressures. Mahinda Rajapaksha is the visionary CEO and Sarath
Fonseka was a capable Technical Manager. Don’t forget we got huge
internal and external pressures to stop war. Internal pressure came
from the opposition who now back Sarath Fonseka. I never thought
Sarath can come to a same stage with Mongala, Ranil, Ravi, Kiriella,
Mano Ganshan, Hakeem etc…Sarath was a joker for them and Sarath was a
traitor for them. If Sarath can join hands with them, Sarath can do
any dirty thing. I think real Sarath will be exposed to public in near
future?
Now JVP is a helpless party and they know if Mahinda wins again, in
next General election they cannot win any parliament seat. So no more
Lal Kaantha, Tilvin, Anura Kumara, Vijitha Herath in our politics.
That is why they want to send Mahinda home, so they can go for a
coalition with Sarath and go for next general election.
UNP wants to use Sarath just to send Mahinda home. After that they
want Sarath to abolish Executive Presidency and Ranil will contest for
prime minister and he will become executive prime minister.
However if Sarath wins what really will happen?????????????
Sarath will not abolish executive presidency. He didn’t even like
Chief Defense Staff post saying it is not powerful. He said it is a
ceremonial post. Will he like to abolish executive presidency and get
the ceremonial nominal presidency? NO he never. Will he like to be
just a nominal president under executive Prime Minister Ranil? No he
never. Nobody will give up executive presidency once he/she becomes
the executive president. Even Chandrika didn’t do though she promised.
Chandrika is a quite diplomatic leader because she had lots of INGO
links. Are we fools to expect abolishing executive presidency from a
hardcore military personality like Sarath Fonseka????
Sarath Fonseka will continue to be executive president and JVP and UNP
will start Massive protest against him. Further SLFP will also support
the protest because Sarath is now an enemy to them. Sarath does not
have a strong political party even though he will be the president…
Finally Sarath will seek the support of army and army will definitely
support Sarath. That will make this country a military regime and JVP/
UNP/SLFP will continue protest and ask for international support too.
Finally United Nation will send their military forces here and this
country will become a mess. This is the end.
Now our country is liberated and Mahinda Rajapaksha is able to handle
the economy without collapsing even in this world economic crisis era.
I am not telling Mahinda is managing economy very well. However we
should give him a chance to develop this country. He is a capable man
and he knows how to put correct people in managing economic war. He is
a good leader and from his side what he should do next is to eradicate
corruptions. I wish he will do that too if not people will not support
him. He doesn’t use executive powers like some other president did in
the history. Comparatively Mahinda Rajapaksha is more democratic
leader than them. Sri Lanka has become a friend of world giants who
are against USA. That is why we won in UN Security Council too. All
those credits should go to this brave leadership of Mahinda
Rajapaksha.
However the decision is up to people of Sri Lanka. Will wait and see.
