I just wanted to point out I had exactly the same symptoms as Jakub
and I was able to get it going by upgrading my video card driver.
In case someone is struggling with getting it going I will share some
of my details:
- ASUS laptop 4-5 years old running XP Pro SP3
- NVIDIA FX Go 5650 video card, driver ver: 67.65 (dated 2004)
Upgraded to ver 78.01 of driver and Skyrails started working.
Issues with upgrading the video driver:
- NVIDIA website said to go to ASUS to find updated driver (I had the
latest driver available there)
- Tried installing using NVIDIA's installer, but always failed
because it couldn't find the right hardware.
- Unzipped the NVIDIA installer to get to the files contained within,
and then went into XP's device manager and did "Update driver" for the
video card and pointed to the folder I unzipped the files into. It
warned that it couldn't check whether the update was compatible, but I
went ahead anyway. NVIDIA's drivers cover many video cards and I was
happy that it included 5600 series (close enough in my mind). Most
importantly it worked and no adverse affects to my system.
I believe the issue is due to OpenGL support, and I assume Yose is
possibly using more features in this later version of skyrails than in
the previous version.
I must point out that if you do as I did with upgrading the video
driver, that you do it at your own peril. The theory is that you can
damage a display if the wrong driver is used. I'm not sure if this is
still the case using LCDs or no longer applicable and only applied to
CRTs. If I had a desktop computer I would have just bought a new video
card.
