Hi!
As you probably already know, Microsoft purchased Skype in 2011 and is pushing users to switch to Skype. As a result, most recent versions of Skype have the possibility of signing in with a Microsoft account (formerly Windows Live ID and even before .Net Passport) and allow to chat with people who are using Messenger. Furthermore, Messenger 2012 (the last version available!) is reporting there is a new version but actually offer to download Skype and uninstall Messenger because Skype offers both instant messaging, voice and video.
Today I found that Skype Talking doesn’t recognize Messenger contact windows as chat windows, and in fact is unable to read incoming/outgoing messages. I read versions of Microsoft deciding leave Messenger discontinuation because this protocol is widely integrated in various devices (including the Windows 8 Messages application), but numerous press releases indicate that the Messenger protocol will finally be disabled (except in China) on April.
If the Messenger protocol is finally close, reading of conversation windows with those contacts will obviously not be a problem anymore. However, I’m concerned about Facebook interaction, especially with the chat. Facebook chat within the website is accessible, but when the user needs to switch between two or more conversations is a bit difficult to use. For this, I use Messenger to chat with Facebook contacts because is much more comfortable, since conversation windows are identical of those appearing for Windows Live Messenger contacts. Is SkypeTalking capable of reading chat windows with Facebook contacts?
Thanks and greetings!
No, SkypeTalking won’t read Facebook chats but you can read them by going to the chat history.

Subject: [SkypeTalking] reading of chat messages from Messenger contacts
Hi!

Hi Raymond.
You probably have Skype configured to show only Skype contacts, excluding contacts from other sources such as Messenger or Facebook. To check this, verify the first item in the contact list. If this is the problem, this item should read “Skype, change contact list”; pressing Spacebar, it popups a menu allowing to select the kind of contacts you want to see: Skype, Facebook, Messenger, Online or All.
The Online and All items do what their names say: Online shows online contacts from all sources, and All displays all contacts, despite status and source.
Regards,
Fernando
