Hi all,

I found this accidentally while searching for something skype-related on
the web, so read here:
http://gigaom.com/2013/07/13/skype-says-it-will-kill-desktop-api-by-end-of-2013/
Unfortunately, killing the desktop API, also means the end of
SkypeTalking, this time forever, unfortunately, since SkypeTalking is
Desktop API-dependent.
In this case, there's nothing more to say.

Hello Hrvoje,

Sad to hear this. But can't say that I didn't suspect that it will
happen sooner or later. The list of incompatibilities between Skype
itself and its desktop API was growing with each and every newer release
of the Skype client for Windows. Take for example the issues that I have
reported recently in the SkypeTalking issue tracker. And add the newly
discovered one from last night with Skype 6.7: It seams that there are
issues with the correct exiting from Skype if the command is executed
from within SkypeTalking itself with the SKT+Q command - Skype did not
closed itself, but remained resident in the memory and began to load the
CPU. Now however, I can't reproduce it again. But be aware that it might
happen to you as well.

On a related subject: Skype 6.7 has some accessibility improvements,
including correct labels for the global and local search fields. Oh, and
the TAB navigation in the "Edit Profile" dialog is fixed and works
correctly now.

___
Best wishes,
Kostadin Kolev

The new Skype Kit API is paid, so I can't take this as a solution due to
inability to shop online outside of my country. However, there are now
Skype URIs as a replacement, so we will see how they work. But of
course, once desktop API dies, SkypeTalking will have to be rewritten
from scratch.

I do not know technical details but for the nontechnical mind, "uris"
is another standard, this one used by mobile devices, to have
programmers and developers make their programs work with skype such
as the programmers of desktop applications have used skype's api until now.

programmers now will have to find ways to make their desktop programs
work with the newer standard. This is possible but will cost time and
money. Our skypetalking developer is already talking about doing just
that though. Just be patient, and if you can afford it, maybe
consider donating a little bit towards skypetalking's further development.

Hmm, in fact, yes that's right. Not sure if it'll help us.

so, we can finally close the project.

we don't have another solution rather buying skype kit but i am not sure
you or i will buy it.

i am afraid skype client accessibility will break too.

and, isn't that licensed, so if you've a license for that, isn't your
license renewed and therefore updates?
