Hi folks. I am indexing a cookbook and I want the subheading to be indented even if there is only one sub.

It looks like the Custom settings under Index style should let me do this, but frankly, I don't understand a word of the manual regarding this. I also find a control for leaving the subhead on the same line as the heading when there's only one...

Does anyone know how to save me from having to do this manually across the whole index?

Thank you,
Rudy Leon

Hi Rudy,

The technical term for a single subheading is orphan subheading.

You just deselect the option "Merge orphan subheading" under "Other
Settings" in the Index Style options.
