I have been asked to index a behemoth of a catalog and am hoping to split copied text (if I can't get a txt file to import). I am practicing the split function but SKY8 keeps stalling when I try the utilities │ split function saying "splitting 0%" at the bottom forever. Suggestions?

Have you highlighted (selected) those records you want to split?
Have you tried chunking the records into smaller groups than the entire thing?

It finally worked! But it seems like my client will only have a pdf or InDesign file for me (but the index is BOB). Besides cutting and pasting 10K line items into SKY, how else can I index this giant thing before retirement?

Acrobat reader has an option to save as text.  You'd have to try it to see if it would get you something useful.  I don't own a full copy of Acrobat to see what other options you might have.  If you know someone with a full license, they could likely do it for you if the full version would do something more useful.  It would be a one-shot process, and you wouldn't need them to do anything after that.

I guess I'm also not sure what the format  (I don't mean file type) of the 'catalog' is, that you'd want to import.
