activating after crash

Hi all,

I don't know why I can't ever figure this simple thing out...

My computer lost the screen after getting a new motherboard and they can't fix it until monday. So I downloaded Sky on my husbands computer? How do I activate it? (we can still have sky 8 on two computers?)

I need to work this weekend!

This is from the original email I got from when I purchased Sky. You will need your Transaction Code though.

“To activate your program, start SKY Index – the activation dialog should appear. If the activation dialog does not appear, choose Help>Activate. Follow the on-screen prompts and enter your activation information provided above.” (that is the transaction code)

 

From one of the discussions on the User group: If you need to deactivate an old computer, you can do so from any computer that has installed Sky by “choosing Help>Manage activations. There is a button on the resulting dialog for “Deactivate Other” which will allow you to deactivate a different computer.” However, it is still 2 computers like you said.

 

I hope this helps. If you don’t have your transaction code, then you will likely have to contact the help line directly.

Yes I thought it was something like that but when I opened sky there's nothing about activating. The only download I could find was the trial, so if there is another one I don't know where to find it on the site!

Why do you need to deactivate SKY on the computer being fixed? You're allowed to have the program on two computers.

I'm not a big label user, but my guess is that if you did deactivate/reactivate SKY, your labelled entries would still have the same color but any names that you assigned to specific label colors might be lost. You could try savingd the file you're working on as template, but to my knowledge, label information is not included in templates the way that acronyms and translations are.

On that same email that you saved from when you bought it (the one that has the transaction code), there is a link to the download page. It is different from what you can find on the site’s downloads page which doesn’t have that same page (that I could find anyway). The help desk should be able to send you another one if you lost the email. I’m not sure what they will need, but they will be able to help you out for sure.
