Hi, Everyone.

What do /x1 and /x0 mean?

When I did Shift F11, these symbols appeared everywhere I had this:

see also election, presidential/x1 /x0(2016)

and this:

see also election, presidential/x1 /x0(2024)

It happens with see references too.

I suppose I could make a note to delete them before submitting to publisher, but I'd really rather they not appear in the first place.

All the best,

Mary

Mary,
These are formatting codes indicating notes. I copied the following from the manual, but the table didn't paste correctly. In my manual this is on page 291. So it'll be close in your manual.
How do you find your manual? Click on Help>"Search for Help On"
And it'll open to the SKY manual index.
Here's the text I found:
"Although you don't normally see them, SKY Index uses special formatting codes internally when you apply character formatting to entries in your index. If you show the Reveal Codes Pane (View>Reveal Codes), you can see these codes. The table below defines the codes that are used and what they do. Under normal circumstances, you do not need to know or be concerned with these codes. However, if you experience a sorting problem, the problem can sometimes be resolved by viewing these codes. For instance, one entry may have an ignored space where another, apparently identical, entry may not have that space ignored which would cause the two entries to sort differently even though they appear identical.
Notes:
* These codes are case sensitive.
* When coding fonts, SKY Index stores index entries with both font Begin and font End coding. However, Reveal Codes shows only the Begin code since the End code is not, in reality, needed. The font will remain the same until another font is specified."

And here's the table such as it is:
Format Begin End
Bold
/b1
/b0
Italic
/i1
/i0
Underline
/u1
/u0
Superscript
/p1
/p0
Subscript
/s1
/s0
Strikeout
/k1
/k0
Note Text
/x1
/x0
Ignored Text
/y1
/y0
Hidden Text
/z1
/z0
Font
/f"<fontname>"
/f""

Thanks, Deborah.

I'm not sure why that was happening.

I solved the problem by deleting the xrefs and starting over by typing a space before "xref" and the cross-reference. That smacked it out of its glitch.

All the best,

Mary
