Hello all, and Happy Thanksgiving! I do not necessarily expect replies to this today.

I had to have my laptop replaced in the middle of a project, and SKY is on the new one, and I have used it to complete the index I was working on.

I need to make changes to the previous index and am not sure how to get to it. When I click on file, it shows only the last index.

When I click on Backup, then SKY index, then the last backup of the index I sent off,  the program tells me that the file I selected already exists, and do I want to overwrite. If I say no, nothing happens. If I say yes, the program brings up the index I just completed but not the one I need. Is there a way to retrieve that other index, or do I have to work only with the Word document?

Any help appreciated.

Judy

I don't know the answer to the first question, but you can convert the word file to a csv (select all, convert to table, paste table into excel, save as csv) and import it into SKY directly.

Dear Judy,

I'm not sure about the specifics of this, but I ran into this issue once and required Kamm's help to get back my old index file. Rudy's suggestion is a good one. If that fails, you could make use of his conversion service, details of which can be found here: https://www.sky-software.com/products/services.htm

I was only able to open older save (not backup) files of my indexes. Since then, I make sure to create a new .sk8 file every day, so that I always have access to multiple save files. I also save a final .sk8 file (of the completed index) in case I need to return to it later.

I hope you are able to access your file soon.

All the best,
Madelon

If the index file you're looking for is on the new computer, you should be able to access it via the File -> Open dialog box and navigating to the folder containing it.

OK, that's it. I think I've got it, everybody. I was clicking on what had the latest date, and I needed to click on the main one without the date, time, etc.

Thank you all!

Judy
