I am an absolute beginner and installed ubuntu dual boot with windows 10.At first, the bluetooth on ubuntu didn't work for some reason, and I did a google search and just did that (mostly askubuntu or quora) and it worked!
The first step is to check if there are issues with the Bluetooth adapter drivers. We can do this by using dmesg which gives output from the low level hardware drivers. When you suspect the hardware is broken, you can check the output of lsusb to see if the USB Bluetooth adapter is detected.
So, with the hardware driver ready there is a high probability that you encounter issues with your sound system. When you pair and connect the Bluetooth headset, and you can not select it in the sound settings as an input or output device, then the first step is to install Blueman.
In my case, the system did not recognize the headphones as an audio device, and I could not change the audio profile with Blueman. To fix this, we have to enable the bluetooth-discover module in Pulseaudio, the sound system for most Linux distributions. First, we can check if the module is loaded in Pulseaudio with the pactl.
All in all, the Bluetooth adapter manufacturers have some work to do to make there drivers better accessible on Linux. However, the user experience from the Linux side can get an upgrade as well. Even as a technical person I had many issues to understand the output given to me.
I bought these in November 2018 and they were working fine until mid january when the bluetooth started suddenly disconnecting for no reason. This began about 20 minutes into listening and would reconnect after about 15-20 seconds then drop again after less than 10 minutes. After three or four times it didn't reconnect so I checked the player, Astell&kern AK70, and it showed that it was still connected. Trying to disconnect didn't work and just hung the player meaning a reboot was necessary. On restarting I was able to reconnect and had another 20 minutes of music before a disconnection again. This time when the automatic reconnect failed i just switched off bluetooth on the player and restarted and reconnected to the xm3s that way. But, there have been times when it has been necessary to switch the headphones off and on to get a connection.
The simple fact is that when used in a public place there is interference which causes the bluetooth on the headphones to drop, it doesn't happen at home and it doesn't happen in public with my Bose qc25s or my JBL in ears suggesting that there may be a fault with the bluetooth on the Sonys.
my first set went back to the service centre who authorised a replacement; the replacement set have the same problem but correspondence with sony on the second occasion was a waste of time as they repeatedly refused to accept it is a manufacturing problem and blame compatibility problems with the device.
Hi I am not able to connect my bluetooth headset to laptop. My Sony Headphones gets paired with my laptop. But when I search for devices in my settings I don't find my headphones name. Could you help me with this?

As far as the sound goes, not surprisingly, it's really good: Nice detail, warm but well defined bass that goes deep, natural sounding mids (where vocals live) and just big open sound -- for true wireless buds anyway. Along with that new V1 chip for the digital processing, Sony has redesigned the 6mm drivers and these do sound richer than the WF-1000XM3, which already sounded excellent.
