Hello All,

I sailed my SKUD-18 in a PHRF fleet last season with an unofficial trial PHRF rating for a 1 season assessment period.  I have been advised that a permanent PHRF rating has been assigned and I will share this with the class once I've got the official word.

Hope you are all well and sailing!

Thanks Tim,  Here's the notice from the Classifier and attached is my Certificate for reference purposes.  Cheers, Rick

"The Skud now has an official PHRF-LO rating.

It only applies to the two person center line seating version though. PHRF-LO does not rate boats with trapeze at this time, that may change but not in the near future.

Any Skud owner with the same configuration as yours can apply for a PHRF-LO certificate through their club handicapper. If they do not belong to a club that is a member of PHRF-LO they can contact PHRF-LO directly and can apply for a certificate at a slightly higher price.

This includes a rating with and without a spinnaker.

PHRF-LO identifies the boat as a SKUD 18.2 -1/2CF. This is to identify it as the two person as per your class rules, and the rating applies to the Mark 1, 2, and carbon fiber rigs as your class lets them race together without a performance difference.

As with any new class of boat, the rating will be automatically looked at and compared to the observed performance for the next three years and adjustments may be made. So the more boats completing in races at clubs that submit their results to PHRF-LO the more accurate the data will be. After that the rating will have the criteria of the alert review process applied.

As a note, PHRF-LO is changing how mains are measured for 2016, so you will see an adjustment to the rating next year no matter what else occurs.

If yourself or any of your owners have questions they can contact their club handicapper, or myself through the PHRF-LO website,  under members, and then under Central Council or Executive."
