As part of our committment towards supporting and encouraging world
class competition, we wish to inform the international community of SKUD
sailors that everyone is welcome to join us for this and other class run
events.
The event is to take place on the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday
15th of July, at Rutland Sailing Club in the East Midlands of England.
The clubhouse boasts excellent disabled facilities along with several
cheap accessible bunkhouse style accomodation rooms. The water itself is
one of the premier sailing venues in the country, with approximately
3000 acres of sailable water. Conditions are similar to that of estuary
sailing.
Competitors who join us for this event would be encouraged to remain at
Rutland for one week further, to participate in the RYA Sailability
Multi-Class regatta from Friday 20th to Saturday 22nd. This is
Sailability's flagship event that brings together all of the disabled
sailing classes for a weekend of fleet racing. Invited classes are:
Access Classes, Neo 495, 2.4mR, Challenger, SKUD, Stratos, Yeoman,
Kinsman and finally the Artemis. There are regular opportunities
throughout this weekend for individuals to try out different classes.
The notices of race for these two events are expected to be published
very soon, however for now the committee would appreciate expressions of
interest from international teams so that we can begin to plan our
resources. Entry information will be requested at a later date and can
be supplied by e-mail.
SKUD teams going to the Paralympics are reminded that WPNSA is closed
completely from 14th July. Why not join us at Rutland for two weekends
of close racing before heading off to your respective training venues
and engaging with your training programmes. These likely to be the last
fleet racing events before the games start appoximately 5 weeks later.
We hope to see you in July at Rutland!
Alex Hovden (Events co-ordinator) on behalf of the UK SKUD 18 Class.
