Hi all,

We would like to integrate a suggestion feature into our Skosmos instance Although a plugin exists, documentation on how it works, its prerequisites (GitHub repository?) and its configuration remains very limited (https://github.com/NatLibFi/Skosmos-widget-suggestions). Would it be possible to deploy it in our environment? If so, do you have any additional technical information? Is it compatible with Skosmos 3?

I have a second question about Skosmos 3. Is there a place where a visible instance has already been deployed? We are very curious to see it.

Many thanks to the whole Skosmos team for their excellent work.

Kind regards

Hi Stéphane,

Thank you for your interest and I'm sorry that your message got stuck in
the moderation queue for some time. You now have permission to post
directly. (We have to protect the group because of frequent spam.)

First, regarding Skosmos 3: We currently have two public test instances.

1. https://test.dev.finto.fi is where we are building the next Finto.fi.
It is currently still mostly a plain Skosmos 3 installation, but in the
near future we will make more Finto customizations to this instance.

2. The Skosmos demo site https://demo.skosmos.org was just recently
upgraded to Skosmos 3. It is a very plain Skosmos installation with
minimal customizations.

Both of these instances are always running the current main version;
they will update as soon as the code in GitHub changes.

Regarding the suggestion plugin: We have made a completely new
(rewritten from scratch) version of this plugin intended for Skosmos 3.
It can be found in the skosmos-3 branch of the same repository. It has
also just been deployed in the test.dev.finto.fi instance mentioned
above (see the YSO, YSO Places and SLM vocabularies).

However, this plugin is quite heavily customized for the requirements of
our specific vocabularies (the three mentioned above). It is probably
not straightforward to just start using it for other vocabularies. It
also requires setting up a separate GitHub repository for managing the
suggestions, as well as some server side scripting to handle the
integrations. I suggest you study the code and README on the skosmos-3
branch of the plugin repository, then we can further discuss the options.

For general information about Skosmos 3, see the presentations of the
Skosmos workshop at SWIB25, in particular the presentations "Development
of Skosmos and Finto.fi at the National Library of Finland" and "What's
new in Skosmos 3". You can find links to all the recordings and slides

Best,
Osma
