The production studios, led by MGM, Warner Bros., Paramount, and 20th Century-Fox produced some 500 features a year. Each had a stable of producers, stars, directors and technical experts along with their own theater chains. Yet, within a decade this powerful dream machine had collapsed. Why this happened and how the film industry adapted to a new economic and political environment is the subject of Denise Mann's critical history of Hollywood from 1945 to 1960.

The 2023 Oscars have once again established Hollywood's status as the pinnacle of the motion picture industry but this year's event also demonstrated the growing influence of performers from different backgrounds and ethnicities as well as global directors. Hollywood, the centre of the film industry, has long been criticised for its lack of diversity, but the nominations for this year show that the industry is starting to acknowledge and value the contributions of artists from different backgrounds.

Pinnacle Mountain rises more than 1,000 feet above the Arkansas River Valley, and it provides hikers with a spectacular view of the surrounding area. The park has a few trails, including 1.5-mile summit trails on the east and west sides of the mountain.
