Hello all,

I am releasing a major new update of SkEye and bumping the version number to 6.0 for both Free and Pro versions.

Major changes in this version:
  • Time Machine
Use the time machine to travel to a future or past date. Invoke it through the Menu button (or by double tapping the screen).
While picking dates, SkEye will show a calendar view with moon-phases marked on it.
You can rewind, pause or fast forward time to simulate interesting events like Venus transit of 6 June 2012, or Lunar eclipse of 10 December 2011.
A screenshot and video can be found here.
  • Improvements to the Manual Scrolling Mode
In previous versions, the manual scrolling mode would stay fixed at the same azimuth + altitude position, as time progressed.
In this version, the manual mode tracks the RA and declination (similar to a tracking telescope). This is useful with the time machine, because you can watch how moon, planets and satellites move without having to scroll frequently.
Minor changes:
  • Toasts (popup messages) are now themed in red. Safer for dark adapted eyes.
  • Power saving. Avoided running a background thread after closing SkEye.
  • Updated translations.
There are many more planned improvements to the Time Machine. Stay tuned.

cheers,

Hi Russ,

I checked in my developer console and HTC One V is being shown as unsupported based on the minimum requirements I have set up for the app.

The only requirements are accelerometer and compass. Can you check One V has these?

For the record, the console shows One S, One X and One XL as supported.

Hi Harshad,

Is version 6 compatible with the HTC One V and Android 4.03. Only Google Play says no.

I know for a fact HTC One V does not have a compass.
