SkeinFox has become part of my MakerBot workflow and I'm thankful
Jordan wrote it. I have a couple of feature suggestions for the next
version.

On more than one occasion I've accidentally deleted a settings
template. It's also unclear to me as to which settings template a new
one is based upon.

So to address these two issues I propose these enhancements:

1. A dialog that confirms the deletion of a settings template before
actually deleting it. A typical dialog would suffice.
2. A way to specify the settings template used as the basis for a new
settings template.

Are there workarounds for these issues in 1.02?
If not, I have limited experience with Objective-C, but might give it
a shot unless someone beats me to it - hint, hint ;)

Happy New Year!

thanks Miles! for adding new template... whichever template is
selected when the plus button is checked is the template that is
duplicated. so maybe if I changed the icon to be something that looks
like 'duplicate' rather than 'add'?

for delete I think it would have to be a preference addition, because
I wouldn't want to slow things down across the board (but ya I've
definitely done it too :P). in terms of workflow, I think the ideal
would be to allow 'undo' of delete but since the delete button is
actually deleting a whole git branch it might be kind of tricky to
figure out a way to allow undo of delete. any suggestions here?

thanks for the suggestions!

yes, please, I also thought it meant "add".

An "are you sure?" dialog is a UI best-practice for things that can't be
undone and that have significant consequences.

I just couldn't stand it any more... Today I added these changes to
SkeinFox 1.03:

* Changed + button to Copy icon
* Changed - button to X
* Added delete confirmation alert
* New settings are now named <copied_settings>-copy instead of
untitled

I've only tested on 10.5.8, so YMMV.

I've sent Jordan a pull request so he can pull and release once he
get's a chance.

If anyone else wants to build from source you can git it here:

Go!

wow excellent thanks Miles!! I will add you to the development team so
you can push directly to the repo. we have been too busy making heated
platforms and trying to scale up production.

I just pushed the v1.03rc1 version app to github:

http://github.com/TeamTeamUSA/SkeinFox/raw/master/build/Release/SkeinFox.zip

Now you can try it without having to compile it yourself.

Go!
