Havingrealised that the servers for FIFA19, 20 and 21 will shut down in November 2023, I want to ask: Will I still be able to play offline Ultimate Team modes such as Squad Battles and Friendlies after the servers shut down? Or will Ultimate Team shut down completely and I won't be able to play it anymore?

@FantasnickyThe next game to have its servers shut down is FIFA 17.

It's now the best time to pop back on and go on 17's Ultimate Team since it will soon be shut off, never to return.

Each year the next game in the sequence gets shut off so next year it will be FIFA 18, the year after FIFA 19 etc. So FIFA 22 servers will continue to be online for another 5 years!

As it does periodically, Electronic Arts is shutting down the online servers for a number of older, less-played titles by the end of the year. As spotted by PureXbox, EA is shutting down online servers for at least 12 games in the coming months, including Battlefield Bad Company 2, Dead Space 2, Crysis 3, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, among others.

Crysis 3, Dante's Inferno, Dead Space 2, and Battlefield 1943, among others, are available through Xbox backwards compatibility, so anyone enjoying those games on a newer Xbox don't have much longer to make use of their online elements.

"As games are replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the games that have been live for some time dwindles to a level--typically fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles--where it's no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping the online services for these games up and running," EA said.

One of the things that is nearly inevitable in online gaming is that servers for older, less populated games will eventually be closed down. This is, of course, unfortunate for anyone still playing those games online, but it's important to remember that keeping those servers online does cost companies money. If the playerbase isn't there to support it, shutting it down makes perfect financial sense. To that end, it's recently been announced that Electronic Arts will be closing several servers for older games that fit the bill. Fortunately, players still have a bit of time before the servers are closed for good, so if you want to hop in and play one last match, you have plenty of time to do so.

The news was first spotted by PureXbox, who noted that EA is closing the servers to 12 games over the next few months. For the most part, these games are from older systems, though several of them are available via backward compatibility. Of course, you'll still be able to play all of these games. It's just the online elements that are going down. That said, if you want to hop into a final game of Crysis 3's online multiplayer, you need to do it sooner rather than later.

Speaking of Crysis 3, it'll be the first game to have its server closed when the PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC versions shut down on September 7. Next up will be Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 (October 10) and Restaurant DASH: Gordon Ramsay (October 30). Then, FIFA 18, 19, 20, and 21 will shut off their servers for all platforms on November 6. That'll be just a few days after EA Sports FC 24 drops on September 29, so some of this is probably EA trying to move players onto the new game. Finally, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield Bad Company, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Dead Space 2, and Dante's Inferno will close their servers on December 8.

Again, this is a fairly routine thing that EA (and most developers) do from time to time. Especially with sports games like the FIFA series, the company wants players to move forward so that EA can continue to make its money from microtransactions. While some probably hoped the older games like Crysis 3 and Dead Space 2 would keep their servers on, it appears that there just aren't enough players still hopping in for EA to continent to do so.

Please feel free to contribute games that no longer have their servers up. We are looking for servers where you could gain achievements and those not related to achievements. These should be games across all platforms.

Before the list, I wanted to thank two XBA members who helped me give the Server Shutdown List a boost into 2015. Jakez123 and StayonTarget went out of their way to help me bring the list to a virtually complete state. Without their time and effort, and without the effort of all of the people posting in this thread, this list would not be the most complete source on the internet. To the XboxAchievements community.

Excellent idea Deadly Dog. This will help a lot for people thinking of getting a game that's. Got server closure syndrome. Should get a sticky! Could always just add all EA games to date to be on the safe side haha.

Funny how they are mainly just EA games... and this is just one of the many reasons why I despise EA and Dice in general. Apparently dedicated servers arn't all that they are cracked up to be when they can be taken down on a whim without any notice.

But if they even help one person from deciding not buy a game when they want to get 1000G and there are multiplayer achievements involved--well then my time spent researching and compiling will be worth it.

Noticed that as well. However given the fickle nature of both the misspell and the English nature in general, I originally thought it meant games that need to be served a shutdown, as in a game with so few people they might as well shut down the servers for the game.

I mean, Crysis 3 should have been 8th December in line with all the other upcoming closures, I was really annoyed with the short notice as I had a ton of things to finish for work before I went on holiday. I managed to get it done but it didn't help my stress levels very much.

I kind of feel like there should be a rule where you have to give six months before a server shutdown on PSN. I know sometimes devs/publishers go broke and have to pull the plug but this is EA we are talking about.

The original stated shutdown date was yesterday, so looks like they actually closed it then and the new post of 8th December is an error. EA usually attempt to give 90 days notice of a server shutdown, but sometimes they don't, and sometimes they actually give more of a warning. I don't think there is a set rule for any publisher to give any type of warning at all, but some companies do it as a manner of courtesy.

Founded all the way back in 1982, EA has been at the forefront of the gaming industry for the last 40 years. With a vast number of internal studios under its belt and several distinct divisions, EA is one of the biggest gaming publishers out there, producing some of the most beloved gaming franchises of all time. But some games can't last forever, and over the last year or so, EA has announced plans to pull the plug on a multitude of older multiplayer titles.

While EA has confirmed that players will still be able to enjoy these titles' single-player components, the online servers for these games will be shut down completely in 2023. This means that any co-op modes, competitive multiplayer components, and any form of online integration at all, will soon be removed from these titles. From FIFA to Medal of Honor, EA is shutting down a total of 16 games in 2023, with more possibly on the way to join them.

First up to the EA chopping block is a range of EA Sports titles for the soon-to-be-defunct Google Stadia. Following the announcement of its upcoming shut-down, EA has decided to close down its online servers for its Stadia games a little earlier than its suspected end-of-January shut-down date. The Stadia versions of FIFA 21, FIFA 22, and FIFA 23 will all have their online functionality removed on January 18, 2023, alongside the Stadia versions of Madden 21 and Madden 22.

Just a day later, on January 19, EA is shutting down its online servers for a selection of Xbox 360 and PS3-era titles. Mirror's Edge is probably the biggest loss of the bunch, with players no longer being able to compete in the game's addictive time trials. Along with it, Shank 2 and Gatling Gears are also getting their online servers shut down, with the former's survival mode being made unplayable, and the latter's co-op mode being removed.

February is EA's biggest axing season, with a vast number of games heading to their doom. On February 2, 2023, EA is putting an end to EA Sports UFC 2's online servers, which will stop players from facing off against each other in the ring. On February 14, 2023, EA is dropping the online servers for a slew of FIFA games, including FIFA 16, FIFA 17, FIFA 18, and FIFA 19. These include every version of the game, from the PC port to the Switch, to the PlayStation and Xbox. February 16 will see EA end the multiplayer support for a few Medal of Honor titles, including Medal of Honor 2011, Medal of Honor: Airborne, and Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
