I think I remember the conversation David is referring to. If,
however, what follows is a horrible idea, I'll take the blame for it
since I can't be 100% sure my memory is accurate.
Perhaps we could try a coding dojo
(
http://codingdojo.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?WhatIsCodingDojo) at one of our
meetings. There is a link to a KataCatalogue available on the front
page of this site with some exercises. Additionally, a few years ago
Dave Thomas put together a number of code katas
(
http://codekata.pragprog.com/), which may also be suitable material
for this type of meeting too.
I don't think we'd be able to pull this off effectively next week. I'm
certainly not ready to lead something like this right now but maybe we
could discuss the potential of trying something like this and gauge
interest next Wednesday for a future meeting?
I also found this blog post
(
http://faithfulgeek.tumblr.com/post/70857749/randori-all-inclusive-user-group-hackfest)
from a member of the Cleveland Ruby Brigade with his experience using
the Randori style at a user group meeting.
BTW, I'll be attending next week. See you then.
