Hi Edmund,

Could you please send the log file of the failed detection? (In Prepare / Settings / Open Log File)

Meanwhile, I'd suggest the following:

1) Try using the other macbook USB port.

2) Before launching Skanect, make sure that no other instance of Skanect is running, and make sure your Kinect sensor is plugged and powered.

Thanks for your feedback,
Nicolas

Are you using a Kinect that was bundled with an XBox? If so my understanding is you need the adapter that comes with the one sold separately.

I tried both my Mac Book Air 10.8.3 and my Mac Pro 10.8.4 and both have issues detecting the XBox sensor.

The MBA didn't see it at all.

The MP saw it once, and froze a single image in the GUI. Nothing would update in realtime.

Now when I try it on the MP, nothing works. Here is the log file and it looks as though the driver is failing to load.

I did confirm the above dylibs are in the Skanect.app package in the Applications directory.

I will try a full reboot and see if that helps.
I tried all the different USB ports on both computers.

I'm VERY excited about the MAC version and hope this can get resolved!
Thank you for the help.

Hi Mark,

Something should not definitely not have made it into this release, but did anyway, unfortunately.

:-(

The good news is: there's an instant fix!

Replace "Skanect.app/Contents/bin/config/modules.xml by the attached file.

We apologize for this and will update the mac app download ASAP.

Thank you! We're getting closer! Now the camera is detected. But it only captures the 1st frame.
I'm willing to help in any way.

Hi all, I am having similar problems with detecting the sensor.  Sometimes if I turn Skanect on and off a few time then force quit I can get it to capture one frame and it says that it is connected.  I have found that it hasn't past the very first frame.  Here is the most current log.  I would really love to get this going, my students are going to love it once it works on my system.

Hi, could you try different to plug/unplug to different usb ports? Are
you using Kinect for Xbox?

Hi Nicolas,

Yes, I have an Kinect for Xbox. I have tried both USB ports, switching them often. I have deleted the software a few times and reinstalled, but I am not sure if that helps or not, or whether I have been able to uninstall all the software.

Hi Kris,

Does the exact same camera work fine on Windows? It may be a hardware issue.

Kris, I had the same problem on my IMac, does your Kinect for Xbox work with an Xbox, I had purchased my separately, once I plugged it into an xbox and believe it did a firmware update, then my iMac recognized it.  I do that mentioned problems with the software locking up and will continue working with it for a while to see if I can figure out why.
