Please help me Skanect is no longer recognising kinect 360 after installing Kscan3d ,I have checked device manager and the the conating folder no longer says kinect 360 it says Prime Sense. I have tried uninstalling Kscan 3d Skanect and the kinect skd then using a regisry cleaner and reinstalling Skanect but still the same.

There is a known conflict between KScan3D and Skanect. They both appear to use some of the same files but require different versions of them. Since uninstalling KScan3D, rebooting (you did reboot after uninstall, right?) and re-installing Skanect did not resolve the issue that suggests there is an external file, like a device driver, that needs to be repaired/replaced. Have you tried reinstalling the Kinect for WIndows SDK v1.8?

Please note that Skanect is not compatible with a more current version (v2.0+) of the Kinect for Windows SDK.

Best,

I will add to that, if you wish to have KScan3d and Skanect, do a custom installation of KScan3d and do not select the drivers(this includes not installing the NI drivers as they conflict with the SDK 1.8)

It seems you need to fix/repair the kinect drivers. Uninstall/reinstall the SDK 1.8  This will all it to be clean and both programs will be happy.
