Hi all,

I have read some information about this but not come across an actual answer? Basically I use a Primesense scanner, and all is well in windows 7 pro up to about 2meters. Anything more than that and the quality drops off rapidly! To the point where you move around nearer the poor scan quality areas, and it makes no difference. Is this right? Just seems a little odd, that the results are good close up, but then you scan from a distance and they are poor, even when you move closer?

I get it that the initial scan would be poor from a distance, but should this not update when you move closer in?

Cheers

What is the size of the bounding box when you start the capture? This can have a dramatic effect on the apparent resolution of the scan. The bounding box is fixed when the capture starts so, even if you move the sensor around, the dimensional space included in the scan and the voxel density remains constant; getting closer to the subject does not increase the local resolution.

If you want to capture finer details you will want as small a bounding box as possible. The further the sensor is from the subject the more variance in the positional accuracy of a given data point.so you also want to be close as possible, within the limits of the sensor, to the subject.

Hi Scott,

Yes basically if I set the bounding box larger than a few meters the quality goes, but like you say it gets fixed so that answers that one. Cheers. Any news on a potential update for the 100cpu load when using a primesense scanner in windows?

Cheers

Hello There,
I know this is an old post but I would like to know if I can change the Voxel count the bouding box?

in 10.x.x    there is a Very High that can be used.    in terms, the larger the bounding box, the less quality, a smaller bounding box will give better quality
