i'm buyng a new GPU for my PC and i got a deal on AMD rx5600xt, does skanect runs on it or only with NVIDIA GPUs with CUDA? im planning on using with a kinnect  that i've already own( xbox360).

Yes, currently they do program for nVideia  GPU's (which use Cuda), otherwise you can use the slower CPU scan.

but will the scanning quality change or only the processing speed?
Because if its only related to time consumed, its ok

Frames Per second during capture.. aka the faster you capture, the more data you capture, the better.
You can scan at a lower resolution to get more FPS in the live data scan, then use the Reconstruct tab to use the Fusion from the data to get a better pointcloud/resolution from the captured data.

for example scan at medium to get more fps. reconstruct at high, or very high (offline of course), and you can get the quality of higher , but it will take longer to get there.
a good gpu will let you scan live in higher quality, with higher fps, therefore you will not have to go back and reconstruct.

Thanks, i was unsure if getting a AMD instead of Nvidia graphics card would make the quality worse since it lacked CUDA. The reconstruction lose some quality compared to a faster scanning? or only the time i take?

It would use CPU instead of GPU as it would not find the nVidia card to process with. Frames per second capture and live capturing would be to where you would have to scan slower in order to capture everything without losing tracking.

Rule of thumb is 15 fps is very slow to maneuver with by going slow, 30fps is easy to not lose tracking..
if high or very high (live tracking) craps out, try going to medium, and scanning to get more fps
then you can later go to the reconstruction tab and reconstruct a higher point cloud/model from the data

The more fps you have, the better you can go back later and tweak the same scan if you need.
the quality is all about how you scan, and which you use for live/reconstruction for the point cloud creation.
