the iphone x and xs contain the true depth camera, basically a kinect. however, the iphones 3d scanning abilities are severely limited by the applications and processing power available on an iphone.
the apps are also relatively new, and if a program like skanect could be used to interface with the iphone and use both the experience of years of 3d scanning, and the processing power and speeds of a computer, this could bring 3d scanning to a much larger audience using tools that are much more available now-days.

i am new to this forum and don't know if this has been discussed, or if it is already possible in some way.
if so please point me in the right direction.
thanks

It is unlikely that Skanect will be migrated to iOS devices, like iPhones, but someone could write an app analogous to the Structure (iOS) app for the Structure Sensor which supports Uplink. Uplink is a feature that allows a Structure Sensor mounted to an iOS device to connect over WiFi to Skanect running on a Windows or macOS device. There is a public Uplink project on GitHub; see https://github.com/occipital/uplink
