Hi!

I received a Carmine 1.09 3D-Scanner and compared it with my Asus Xtion Pro Live scanner:

then, I did the "glasses mod" with +2.5 reading glasses:

This device in combination with Skanect is just amazing! Give it a try :)

Awesome, thanks for sharing this! Will have a deeper look soon, we
definitely need to go buy some glasses to give it a try too :-)

Hi

Thanks for sharing.
Can you tell me which is the low range of Carmine 1.09 with +2.5 glasses?

Best,
Cristobal

Awesome as always Bernhard! I marvel at your set up - did you create the harness yourself or can you actually buy those things?

Think it would be fair and according to the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License  to mention where this idea came from.

@ Nicolas B:
You didn´t buy glasses yet? Robert (a guy I´m working with him) contacted you at Feb.15.2012 by mail suggesting my idea.

A Nyko Zoom isn´t a zoom but a wide angle lens. To see the effect of added + lenses see my post March 18.2012 at:

What's the possibility of getting configuration access to set the scanner
intrinsics as in MagWeb's paper?

We could provide a way for advanced users to specify the calibration parameters, indeed. We'll try to come up with something.

Hey everyone,

I've recently picked up both a 2.5 and 3 magnification glasses. When I put the lenses over the carmine 1.09 it stops working. They were dollar store glasses, is that what's causing this?

Thanks

what do you mean stops? they shouldnt have anything to do with it's operation

i tried some 10€ +2.5 glasses 3 days ago (and only 2 lenses as i do not care about the textures), no problem there, it just is very difficult to scan as the scan distance must be very specific

Hey K-O-S. As Voudas points out, you have to move into the subject a bit more and the feedback will seem really odd at first until you start scanning. To begin with as you move the scanner around, the feedback will appear very broken, scattered, even random, but once the scanning starts and Skanect starts building the mesh, you'll be able to better feel your way around the subject.

If however, you are not getting anything from the sensor, then that could be something entirely different. Can you post a screen shot of what you're seeing when initiating the session?

Yes when I get home tonight I will put the lenses back on and try another scan. It's like the lenses block the actual sensors. If i have skanect open and the sensor has no lenses, its fine. When I put the lenses over there is no data at all. Anyways, Ill try again when I get home and post even a video maybe.

Thanks
