I am using an Xbox 360 kinect, which is good for body and head scans.
The closest focus I can get is about 0.6M.
I want to scan small objects that I can replicate the exact same size on my 3d printer. The printer bed is 200 x 200 mm.
Is there anyway I can close focus on objects? I have ordered a clip on lens attachment to see if it reduces the distance.
Alternatively any other methods or sensors that have been tried?
I can of course just scan an object from further away then zoom in during processing, however this looses resolution.

I've tried a couple of the store bought clip-on lenses designed to adjust the view
area of the kinect and neither worked at all. I've gotten limited success with using lenses
from some +2.5 reading glasses taped to the front. It's better to buy a sensor with better close
up range like the Primesense Carmine, but those aren't made anymore and are harder to find with
only a slight improvement in close scanning and surface resolution.

Same problem here.
Nothing you can do with the Kinect V1.
The V2 shoud not have that issue as it doesn't project dots from the side but Skanect dropped the promised support.

Now I'm working on getting better scans with a Cyclop laser scanner but for some objects that turns out to be slightly too small. :/
