Highlights from the waterbird survey on 18 May:

9 Red-throated Loons

5 Common Loons

2 Horned Grebes 

55 Red-necked Grebes 

and a small flock of 11 Black-legged Kittiwakes 

The number of Red-necked Grebes is high for not being associated with a hooligan (Eulachon) run in our area. These grebes were active and feeding on an unknown bait fish in the same area as other grebe and loons, and an assortment of diving ducks and gulls.
