Highlights from a waterbird survey on 11 May:

1372 Surf Scoters

    51 Horned Grebes

  the relatively high numbers from both may be associated with the recent hooligan run in Haines

at least 156 American Pipits, with more seen away from the intertidal shore

89 Marbeled Murrelets, almost all paired up and in full, brown breeding plumage
