Joanne Beierly

I'm very sad to inform the bird club that one of it's founders, Joanne Beierly, has died.

Joanne would meet regularly with a very few other people interested in birds in the late 1990s.  That small group decided to become the Skagway Bird Club and started sponsoring events and doing outreach and education in the early 2000s.  Joanne was an avid observer and recorder, for many years she would be seen out with Andrew (and his big camera) finding interesting birds.  She was a pivotal member of the bird rescue group, often an injured bird would end up in her care while transport to Juneau rehabilitators was being arranged.  She supported the bird club in so many ways...

Joanne was a lovely woman! My heart goes out to her family and everyone feeling the loss.
