Waterbird survey on Friday, 15 May 2026.

987 Surf Scoters, with a couple of White-winged Scoters in the mix

A good variety of other ducks, mostly with numbers in the double digits

Horned and Red-necked Grebes

Red-throated Loons and another loon species (probably Pacific)

1 lonely cormorant, couldn't pin down species

2 whimbrels, and some of our more usual shorebirds, Wandering Tattler, Spotted Sandpiper, Greater Yellowlegs

We also saw 1 sea lion, about a dozen harbor seals, and 1 (maybe 2) humpback whale
