Midday today (Sunday, 5/17/26) Boris and I rode to the Chilkoot trailhead. At Nahku Bay there were a few Marbled Murrelets and near 1000 Surf Scoters. We didn’t pick out any White-wings with available optics.

Along the Taiya River flats there was an Osprey flying over the river maybe 50 to 100 feet above. Boris ID’d the call as well.

On the wooded trail between the bridge and the campground there were also Red-breasted Sapsucker and Ruby-crowned Kinglet, robins and chickadees.

What, an Osprey - my favorite bird. Do you think it is nesting somewhere or passing thru. If it's passing thru, any idea where it may be going? I saw 1 a few years ago perched on a tree by Symmit lake. Always on the lookout.
Thanks a lot. I'm so excited.
