young robins enjoying serviceberries

The young robins have been having a great time eating my serviceberries for the past few weeks. It’s hard to get a count as they can be quite hidden in the foliage. I’d guess I can have 6-12 in the bush at any given time.

Very nice pics!  The first 2 look like robins, but the 3rd one looks more like a Varied Thrush juvenile to me.  

Any other sightings or info to help with ID? or if they are still around, maybe check out juveniles in a field guide or app and let me know what you think if you see them again.

Hope they don't get all the saskatoons, I want to pick a bunch down at the YakPt footbridge soon.

Yes, sorry, the third picture is a different youngster. I got a bit carried away in adding photos 😊Those little robins seem to be pretty content in eating at my place, so hopefully they will leave the ones at the point for you, Elaine.

 

Given all the trees being removed in the valley and the late arrival of food sources this summer, I’m letting the birds have all the berries in my yard. Interestingly, no one is interested in the raspberries, which is fine with me. Those are my favorites.
