Subject: Nominees Needed for County Committee Elections

External Email

Good morning all,

We are in the final two days of the County Committee nomination period. We have 2 areas with no nominees and many other areas with only one nominee. As many of you know, the Committees are very important to the administration of our programs at a local level. They make decisions about program policy and eligibility for farmers in the county or counties that they oversee. We need at least one nominee for each area, but we prefer to have multiple nominees so that voters have a choice as to who will be making decisions on their applications. I am reaching out to you for help in finding nominees.

Snohomish and Skagit counties still need nominees. Nominees must live in the local administrative area (LAA) that is up for election this year to be eligible to run in this election (see the pink areas on the attached map). Snohomish Local Administrative Area (LAA) #2 is comprised of the southern half of Snohomish County. Skagit County LAA #3 is comprised of the area east of I-5.

If you know anyone who is interested, or if your networks extend to these areas, we would greatly appreciate assistance in finding nominees. I have attached the nomination form (FSA-669A), a factsheet, some FAQs, and some suggested social media posts. Interested producers must complete the FSA-669A form and provide it to their local county office by close of business on Friday. Questions can be directed to me or to the local office.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Be of legal voting age or, if not at least 18, they must supervise and conduct the farming operation of an entire farm.
  2. Have an interest in a farm or ranch as an individual who meets one or more of the following:
    1. Is eligible and capable to vote in one’s own right
    2. Is a partner of a general partnership
    3. Is a member of a joint venture
  1. Participates or cooperates in any FSA program. A cooperator is a producer who has provided information about their farming operation but may not have applied for or received benefits.
  2. Reside in the Local Administrative Area (LAA) that is up for election. See the pink areas on the attached map.
  3. Cannot have been:
    1. Removed from COC or FSA employment
    2. Removed for cause from any public office or convicted of a felony.
    3. Dishonorably discharged from any branch of the armed services.

We appreciate your assistance in helping us to provide quality nominees to our farmers.

Best,
