Reminder: Hedlin's Family Farm Tour, Potluck, and Social - Wed, 10-Sep

Reminder re: the farm tour and potluck social for next Wed, 10-Sep. We'll be at Hedlin's Family Farm in La Conner (map) for a tour of their 10a organic farm and farm stand. Kai Ottesen & Jules Riske will be our hosts and other members of the Hedlin family also may join us. 5:30p: Meet at the Hedlin Farm Stand to join tour

7:00p: Approximate start time for the potluck and social time at the farm stand

The tour will provide an overview of the farm operation including vegetable, flower, and grain production. An explanation of establishing and managing a farm stand also will be described. 

We'll have canopies, tables, and food serving supplies available at the farm stand. If you're attending the potluck, bring a food or drink item to share. Joining just for the potluck also is fine. During the potluck, we'll have casual social time. Included will be discussion of programming and education needs of farmers. Reps from the WSU Small Farms program, Viva Farms, and the NW Agriculture Business Center will be available for farm business and operations topics. I’ll support discussion re: desired agriculture technology (“ag tech”) applications to demo, present for learning purposes, and to apply in farm operations. The social period also will be an opportunity for peer-to-peer networking.

Funding from the USDA Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP) will support Spanish language translation provided by Eber Rivera from WSU Skagit County Extension.

Recordatorio sobre el recorrido por la granja y la comida compartida para el próximo miércoles 10 de septiembre. Estaremos en la Granja Familiar Hedlin en La Conner (mapa) para un recorrido por su granja orgánica y puesto. Tendremos toldos, mesas y suministros para servir comida en el puesto. Si asiste a la comida compartida, traiga algo para compartir. También se permite unirse solo para la comida compartida.
