*法国政府计划将马其诺防线改建成别墅并出售:the government of France tend to partly rebuild
the Maginot Line in order to sell it as villas
*欧洲13世纪的鼠疫:the bubonic plague spreaded in Europe in the 13 century (可用于
*禁酒令:the Prohibition, which forbade Americans to drink alcohol in the
whole 1920s, was considered as a typical unjust law, since most people
thought that drinking was a crucial part of life. On the other hand,
however, victims of violence or traffic accident caused by alcohol
might regard the Prohibition as a just law, and further more, the
government thought it just as well since the Prohibition had more or
less solved the insufficiency of cereal after the World War I(用于公正与不公正的
Schroeder, the former primer of Germany, who has a few

Bach,G.F. Handel,和 F. Mendelssohn
Compared with his peer, Handel, J. S. Bach was unconcerned in his age,
his austere works did not seem so popular as the luxuriant works of
Handel, since the latter one was supported by and tried to cater to
the preference of George Louis, the King of Britain in the early 18
century, and other patricians in the Europe. As a result, Bach's works
and the valuable creation of counterpoint kept unknown until
Mendelssohn discovered them after almost a century.
F. Mendelssohn, a celebrated German musician, played the role of a
critic as he recommended and conducted the performance of lots works
of J. S. Bach, whose value had not been realized by the public before,
such recommendation and performance represented the great and lasting
charm of baroque music.
J. Haydn and his patron, Infante Esterhazy, who
permitted Haydn to attempt other forms of music while most of the
nobles in European countries were infatuated with opera in the 18th
century, and in the supporting of his tolerant patron, Haydn achieved
his most significant feat, that is, the creative forms of sonata and
*文艺复兴时期威尼斯和佛罗伦萨的绘画风格的区别:differences of paitings between Florence and
Venice in the age of Renaissance, in Florence, the city which was
deeply influenced by the traditional Roman Catholicism and other
mediaeval cultures, contents of paintings were mainly concerned with
stories in the Bibel, by contrast, contents of paintings in Venice,
the trading center of the western European world, were primarily
concerned with mundane life, since it lied far from the center of
Catholicism and most its residents were traders who were more
interested in enjoyment of life rather than sanctity of the God.(可以用于艺术

without knowledge of hydromechanics, most of us will think that the
water which is nearer to the riverbed flows as fast as the water which
is farther from the riverbed, but after studying some elementary
disciplines of hydromechanics, we will realize that the velocity of
water declines as the distance between the water and the riverbed
declines, and therefore find that the water nearer to the riverbed
actually flows slower.(可以用于学术上的定理改变对世界的看法)
Fourier, a French Mathematician, researched on the
heat conduction equation in the early 19th century, and in his
research he created the theory of Fourier Series, which is universally
used not only in the solution of most linear partial differential
equations, but also in the field of physics, control technology,
communication technology and so forth.
*普朗克,热辐射公式和量子力学:the research of quantum mechanics was initiated by
Planck, when he tried to explain his fomula according to the result of
the thermal radiation experiment, which cannot explained perfectly by
the existent one of either Wien or Rayleigh and Jeans.
In the early period of quantum age, many
old physicists, even M. Planck, who create the quantum hypothesis at
first, did not believe in the wave-particle dualism of photon or other
particles, because they are too infatuated by classical physics
theories to accept new hypothesis, but De Broglie, a young French
physicist, who actually had poor classical physical and mathematical
knowledge, hypothesize that all particles possess the characteristic
of wave-particle dualism, and such hypothesis enlightened Schrodinger,
an Austrian physicist, to deduce an equation, which well describes
motions of particles, and had a significant meaning in the development
of quantum mechanics.

Adams Smith and Whealth of the Nation
