摘要:
The generation of energy in a secure and sustainable way is one of the most important technological challenges for the 21st century. Solar light is inexhaustible energy source. The global market for silicon solar cells has been growing at more than 30% a year for past decade. The current silicon solar cell is efficient but expensive and requires energy-intensive fabrication therefore not competitive economically with coal-fired power plants. Semiconducting polymers are inexpensive to synthesize and can be solution-processed in a roll-to-roll fashion with high throughput. Recently, semiconducting polymers have achieved reasonably high power conversion efficiencies in solar cell devices. In this talk, we will discuss organic solar cells, paying particular attention on material design for high performance polymer solar cells. I will also introduce recent progress on material synthesis for high performance polymer solar cells at my group in Shanghai Jiaotong University.
