Dear TRers,

Thanks to Herbert's effort, TR forum is back and virus-free ... All
the old accounts are retained but seems there are no posts over there.
Go and water as much as you want ...

Cheers,
Lei

Yes, please DO NOT visit 98tr.com until any further notifications. Anyone has visited BBS after 16:55 today (PRC time, Jan 21), may have already been infected by virus, a thorough virus scan is highly recommended. But it seems that the virus only spread by IE, Firefox users may only experience CPU being 100% occupied.

So basically Unix based systems, such as Linux and MAC OS, are free from virus too?

Now, I realize that one major symptom of being infected is always saying: hia~~hia~~~...

Recover is easy, but keep it away from virus is difficult...
So I'm doing some investigation and try to find out the root cause, hopefully I'll finish the work by this weekend, and have some volunteers who are not afraid of being infected, just like you, to try the new site for several days.

Is it the host machine or it's the software we are using that is
problematic? May be we should pay a little bit and move to some server
that actually works ...

You know we are paying for the server I think, so to move it will be painful~~

Anyway, if we switch to Linux/Unix server, will it be stable?

Linda just made the point. I agree moving to Linux/Unix would be a good idea!

Everything has bug, backdoor, etc....
Don't know if it's easy to move to a new server with Linux/Unix, but at least, if we do so, everything will be cleared again, currently we're using DvBBS based on ASP+Access...
