1) SOUTH JUNCTION TRIANGLE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION - DEFUNCT
The SJTRA has not met for well over 1 year and has basically come to
an end. After the May 2008 public meeting, there was only a small bit
of action among the committees, but everything has been quiet since.
Several attempts were made to spur the group back into action, but
nothing has proceeded.
Although the association has come to an end, I have decided to keep
the website going as a community resource so that everyone can still
communicate online. The goals of the website still remain the same:
To encourage communication between residents, to encourage
contributions to a growing local web resource, to share news about the
community, to promote local events, etc.
This leaves a gap in the neighbourhood, as there is no "residents
association" that encompasses the entire area. There are still some
other very worthy groups in the area though, and you can still get
involved with them. For example, the South Perth and Sterling
Residents Association, DIGIN, Fuzzy Boundaries, and others. Some are
listed on the website in the "Links" section.
This "Neighbourhood News and Events" mailing list will also continue.
I will send out occasional emails here, no more than one or two per
month. If for some reason you would like to stop receiving these
emails, you can follow the directions at the end of the email to
unsubscribe, or just email me back asking to be removed from the list.
Even better, if you have some of your own news or events, please send
them to me so I can post them to the website or include them in the
next email newsletter!
2) "FUZZY BOUNDARIES" - NEIGHBOURHOOD NAMING MEETING
Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m.
St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church (110 Franklin Avenue)
http://www.fuzzyboundaries.ca/
The next public meeting of the "Fuzzy Boundaries" neighbourhood naming
group takes place this Tuesday. The first meeting back in May was
certainly lively and interesting, and this one promises to continue
building from there. Here's what you can expect:
"A residents' group called Fuzzy Boundaries has initiated a naming
process for the area. You are invited to our second lively discussion
about neighbourhood identities. Urban affairs specialist, CBC
broadcaster and National Director of the annual Jane Jacobs Walk, Jane
Farrow will discuss the naming experience of the West Queen West
community group Active 18. Fuzzy Boundaries member Chris Kwaczek will
also speak about neighbourhood demographics. A Q & A will follow. All
are welcome to attend this free event."
The Fuzzy Boundaries website has been quite active with suggestions
for neighbourhood names, discussions about these names, as well as
links to the extensive media coverage that this project has had.
Check out the website and add your own voice, especially if you can't
make it to the meetings:

3) FAMILY NEWS WEB PAGE
http://www.southjunctiontriangle.ca/familynews
Introducing a new section to our community web site - Family News.
This area will endeavor to acquaint new and long-time residents with
children to our ever changing community through forums such as
Neighbourhood Happenings and Recipe Swap. Residents are free to post
up information that other families may be interested in knowing. Far
from complete, the "Family News" section will evolve as our community
evolves.
