5TH ANNUAL PUMPKIN LIGHTING IN CARLTON PARK
Monday November 1, 6:30PM to Midnight (TONIGHT!)
Carlton Park, Corner of Edith Ave. and Franklin Ave.
"Bring your jack-o-lanterns (with a tealight inside), line them up
around the splash pond, and light them in a dazzling display of
Halloween creativity that will delight children and adults alike. At
midnight, the lights will be doused and the pumpkins left at the park
for the City to pick up the next day for composting.
Children have a wonderful time dashing about and playing with each
other in the twilight, while adults have a chance to visit and get to
know their neighbours in this fun community-building event."

JUNCTION TRIANGLE RAIL COMMITTEE MEETING
Tuesday November 2, 7:00PM at Boo Radley's, 1482 Dupont St. at Campbell Ave.
"The committee will be discussing plans for the upcoming year after a
successful series of neighbourhood picnics with musical performances,
a great all candidates event and a Nuit Blanche exhibit that helped
spread news of the Metrolinx diesel plans to thousands of people. If
you are interested in helping fight for electric trains, please join
us. Membership in the committee is open to anyone interested."

JUNCTION TRIANGLE PLANNING CHARRETTE AND SITE WALK
Site walk: Wednesday November 3, 10:00AM
Planning Charrette: Thursday November 18, 6:00PM
A group of Bioregional Planning students and their professor from York
University are creating a creating a neighbourhood master plan for the
Junction Triangle. To get feedback from the community, they are
hosting a site walk through the neighbourhood on November 3rd,
followed by a public meeting / design charrette / community workshop
on November 18th.

JUNCTION TRIANGLE STITCH 'N BITCH
Thursday November 25, 7:30PM
Angel's Cafe, at the corner of Symington Ave. and Wallace Ave.
"For residents of the Junction Triangle who are interested in needle
crafting: knit, crochet, cross stitch, latch hook. If you've got
something portable to make, show up, chat, laugh and drink a latte.

DOG PARK AT SYMINGTON AVE. PLAYGROUND
The proposed off-leash dog park at Symington Ave. Playground has moved
forward. A local group of residents met at the park on October 16th.

NEW CITY COUNCILLOR IN WARD 18, AND NEW MAYOR OF TORONTO
The October 25th 2010 municipal election brought a new city coucillor,
Ana Bailão, to Ward 18. We also have a new mayor for the City of
Toronto, Rob Ford. Undoubtedly, there will be changes throughout the
city.

RAIL OF LIGHT...
The "Rail of Light" art installation on the Wallace Ave. Footbridge
and on the Railpath during this year's Nuit Blanche was a big success.
Local artists Jeff Winch and Richard Mongiat pulled together a huge
group of local volunteers and made a stunning all-night art display
that shed light on the diesel train expansion issues that are
affecting our neighbourhood.
