I would like to inform you about several upcoming events and news
items in our neighbourhood. This week is especially eventful, and
Summer 2010 promises to be a busy one in the Junction Triangle.

** UPCOMING EVENTS **

CLEAN TRAIN COALITION - GENERAL MEETING
Tuesday, June 22, 7PM, Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood Centre, 1900 Davenport Rd.

"We will be discussing our strategy to build support for the Clean
Train movement in communities along the line and our plan to use the
Clean Train Pledge Campaign and other strategic initiatives to
pressure Premier McGuinty, who ultimately has the say. We plan to
reach out to community groups along the line, and hope that each can
send a representative to learn about the pledge and take it back to
their membership for review."

WARD 18 ALL-CANDIDATES DEBATE
Wednesday, June 23, 7-9PM, St. Anne’s Parish Hall, 615 Dufferin St

"Join us on June 23 to meet the candidates and to hear their
perspectives on three key issues facing our community: transportation,
development, and the relationship between constituents and our elected
representatives."

METROLINX GEORGETOWN SOUTH PROJECT - OPEN HOUSE
Thursday, June 24, 6-9PM, Lithuanian Hall, 1573 Bloor St. W.

"To review the project scope, current status, and learn about next
steps in the design and construction phase."

YASI'S ANNUAL RIDE-IN MOVIE NIGHT
Saturday, June 26, 8:30-11PM, Yasi's Place, Wallace and Campbell.

Part of Toronto's Bike Month, and always a fun neighbourhood event.
"Join us for bike themed movie shorts under the stars. Bring an extra
pillow/blanket/chair if you can. Assorted treats will be available.
Hosted by Yasi's Place and Martin de la Rue."

SUNDAY PICNICS IN NEIGHBOURHOOD PARKS
Every Sunday in July at 11AM-1PM in the Junction Triangle

"Residents are invited to pack a picnic lunch and a blanket and spend
a couple of hours with their neighbours, enjoying the common space of
the Junction Triangle and perhaps even engaging in a good
old-fashioned egg-and-spoon race. The events are free and casual, and
take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at a different neighbourhood park
each Sunday throughout July"
July 4 - Campbell park
July 11 - Carlton Park
July 18 - Erwin Krickhahn Park
July 25 - Perth Square Park

PUMP UP PERTH PUBLIC SCHOOL! FRENCH IMMERSION AND GRADES 7/8
Public Meeting: Monday, July 5, 6:30PM at Perth Ave. School.

Many local parents have started a campaign to expand services at Perth
Ave. Public School, in particular the addition of a French Immersion
program and expansion to grades 7 and 8. There will be a public
meeting with school board trustee Maria Rodrigues on July 5th.

OFF-LEASH DOG PARK IN THE JUNCTION TRIANGLE?
Some neighbourhood residents are proposing to create an off-leash dog
park in the neighbourhood. They are thinking of using the north-west
section of the Symington Ave. Playground. More info here:

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB UPDATE
The new space at 45 Ernest Ave. is coming along nicely. On June 3,
volunteers from Gap Inc. helped with interior renovations and
